Amigurumi Love Bug – Handmade & Huggable

Updated: 3 days ago

This love bug was created from the butterfly pattern by designer Mariska Vos-Bolman at DIY Fluffles

I’ve been diving deeper into the world of amigurumi lately, and honestly, I’m completely hooked. There’s something magical about taking a ball of yarn and turning it into a little character with personality and charm. It feels like bringing tiny creatures to life, one stitch at a time.

This past week, I decided to challenge myself with chenille yarn and a pattern that involved a lot of color changes. I did manage to learn the technique—so that’s a win—but making those color changes look clean and polished? That part was… less successful. The chenille left bigger holes than I wanted, and after wrestling with it longer than I care to admit, I finally set the project aside before it drove me completely mad. Some things just need more practice, and that’s okay.

To reset my creative energy, I started something new: a Valentine’s Day love bug. And let me tell you, this little guy was exactly what I needed. The project went so much smoother, and he turned out absolutely adorable. He’s now happily listed in my Etsy shop, ready to find his forever home.

Working on him taught me a lot—especially about handling chenille yarn and sewing all those tiny parts together. Best of all, he was fun to make, not frustrating. And don’t worry, I’m not giving up on those tricky color‑changing patterns. They’re just waiting for me to come back with fresh patience and maybe a stronger cup of coffee
